"Look at the "Nicene creed" or the so called "Apostles creed" and you will see simply a succession of theological and mythological statements. Their content is scarcely more than thins: Jesus is God´s son, was born of a virgin, was crucified, rose in the third day, and will come again to judge the world; we believe in the authority of the church and the resurrection of the dead. There is no mention of simple living and nonviolence and no mention of the need to completely change one´s life. What happened to the message of Jesus in the creeds of the church? The answer is simple: it has been eliminated. Modern Christianity has given us a Messiah without a cause.
In the beginning, the core of Jesus´ message was ethical, not theological."
